Daily vs Deep Cleaning for Childcare Centres: What's the Difference?

How routine daily cleaning and periodic deep cleaning work together in a childcare centre, and how to decide what your centre needs.

Daily cleaning keeps the centre ready

Daily or scheduled cleaning covers the tasks that need doing every operating day: floors, bathrooms, tables and chairs, high-touch points, kitchens within the agreed scope and waste removal. It is usually done after hours.

Deep cleaning reaches what daily cleaning doesn't

A deep clean is a more detailed, periodic clean — for example skirting boards, behind and under furniture, inside cupboards, vents and light fittings, and build-up in bathrooms. Centres often schedule one during holiday closures or before a new term.

How they work together

Most centres need both: a consistent daily routine, plus deep cleans at agreed intervals. Putting both into one written scope avoids gaps and duplicated work.

Neither is the same as disinfection

Specialist disinfection and outbreak response are separate services with their own products and methods. Your centre's own health and hygiene procedures remain essential.
